Richard “Dick” Carney, age 87 of Mentor on the Lake, passed away February 25th, 2024 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts. with his family by his side. He was born May 31st, 1936 in Cleveland to the late Quincy and Ruth Carney.
Dick worked at Bailey Controls in Wickliffe as a machinist and in maintenance before retiring in 1998.
Dick was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling to Las Vegas and local casinos. He most loved spending time with his family, especially Sunday dinners with his grandsons.
Dick was the loving husband of the late Antoinette “Toni” Carney; dearest father of Judy (Tom) Cook; beloved grandfather of Brian and Sean Cook; brother of Carol (Rich) Werner; brother-in-law of Sandy (Bob) Krueger; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland.
