Frank Joseph Grassi Jr.

3/03/1942 - 9/30/2025

Frank Joseph Grassi, Jr., age 83, of Painesville Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully with many family members at his bedside on September 30, 2025, at the Slovene Home for the Aged in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born March 3, 1942, in Cleveland to Frank Joseph, Sr., and Dorothy Madeline (Mauser).

Frank graduated from Cathedral Latin High School, where he played pulling guard and linebacker on the varsity football team. He worked briefly in sales at Harco and Dunn Hardware stores before taking a job as an account manager for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland. Frank then commuted an hour each way for over 30 years as a sales manager for Trumbull Electric Supply in Warren, Ohio.

Above all else, Frank was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother, and friend to many. He loved to spend his free time visiting with his children and their families. He had a sharp sense of self-deprecating humor. Frank also loved to mow his lawn and complete projects around the house, take bike rides on sunny days, and grill out and play cards on his back patio. Sunday afternoons were reserved for two non-negotiables—his beloved Cleveland Browns and pasta dinner with his family.

Frank is survived by his wife, Julie Susan (Pegan); children Lisa Charielle (Andrew), Janine Fitzgerald (Mike), Michael Anthony, Matthew Joseph, and Amanda Rose; and sister Donna Loje. His treasured grandchildren are Megan and Danielle Fitzgerald, William, and Elizabeth Mantho. He was particularly proud of the arrival of his great-grandson, Hunter Christopher. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Frank is also survived by his former wife and good friend, Cheryl Graham. Frank was a father to many beloved pets, most notably Alice, Maya, and the late Samantha.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Dorothy, in-laws John G. “Jack” and Dixie L. Pegan, brother Gary Grassi, brother-in-law Ralph Loje, sisters-in-law Vicky Webb and Kathleen Tatman, brother-in-law John D. “Doug” Pegan, niece Jordana (Andrew) Rieger and nephews Graham Webb, Eric Martin and Anthony Durastante.

There will be no services, per Frank’s final wishes.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s name to the Slovene Home for the Aged or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Painesville.
