Syed Naeem Ahmad Shah, lovingly known as “Syd,” age 82, passed away peacefully on May 10th, 2026, with his daughter by his side, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born in Agra, India, to the late Zula and Bashir Shah.
Syd later attended the University of Karachi, where he earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and Zoology. Following his education, he immigrated first to Toronto, Canada and then eventually settled in Cleveland, Ohio where he built a successful career and many lifelong friendships.
Syd worked for many years as an electrical engineer at Cleveland Crane and Engineering Company in Wickliffe, Ohio. After the plant closure, he embraced a new chapter in life and became a successful realtor in Lake County, Ohio. He was known as a shrewd businessman, a dedicated and hardworking man, and someone who always found a way to succeed.
Syd truly lived life on his own terms. He was charismatic, social and the life of the party. He loved happy hours, sitting with a drink in hand, sharing stories, laughing with friends, and enjoying life’s moments to the fullest. He had a vibrant personality, a sharp wit, and unmistakable presence that people remembered.
Syd is survived by his daughter, Farrah Lynn McClintock (Paul); his beloved granddaughter Marissa Marie Kacar; his former wife, Linda Shah-Wilson; and six siblings.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Saturday, May 16th, 2026 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
