Carlos Arnold, 89, of Eastlake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the Enclave of Newell Creek in Mentor, Ohio, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 15, 1936, in Midkiff, Logan County, West Virginia, a son of Fred and Lillian Arnold.
As a young man, Carlos worked in the lumber fields of Logan County before relocating to Cleveland, Ohio, where he married May Oma Arnold and built his life. He spent 42 years as a forger and crankshaft operator at Park Drop Forging Company and was a proud member of the Boilermakers Union — a long career marked by the kind of steadiness and hard work that defined him.
A devoted gardener, Carlos took genuine joy in working the soil, and he shared that gift with others through the landscaping services he provided in Gates Mills and Burton, Ohio. He loved to spend time at his family farm in Midkiff. He had a deep love of wrestling, old westerns, and gospel music, and they brought him steady comfort and joy through the years. After retiring, he treasured the time spent with his large and loving family and was a familiar, friendly face at many of the local diners he liked to frequent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillian Arnold; his beloved wife, May Oma Arnold, who passed away on July 23, 2022; his children, Ruth Justice, Curtis Bowen, Gene Allen Adkins, Ronald (Smokey) Peters, his son-in-law, Larry Justice, and daughter-in-law, Diane Bowen; and six of his siblings, Herbert Arnold, Orville Arnold, Edward Arnold, Carl Arnold, Lowell Arnold, and Mable Justice.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (George) Auvil, Roger Bowen; his brother, Cecil (Billy) Arnold, and sister, Maxine Boyd; and his grandchildren, Alicia (Christian) Scheel, Curtis (Courtney) DeGidio, Nicholas (Amanda) DeGidio, Chet (Colleen) Auvil, George Auvil, Melissa (Todd) Morris, Tracey (Art) Hamrick, Lana (Jeff) Wade, Todd (Michelle) Justice, Christopher (Debbie) Justice, Carrie (Brian) Hall, Jennifer (Nick) Timms, Stephanie Porter, Gene Allen Adkins Jr., Crystal Peters, and Robert Victor. He is also survived by many cherished great-grandchildren, among them Abbie Belz, Joey (Taylor) Belz, Monica (Anthony) Ward, Jacob (Hannah) Belz, Keegan Sabin, Leah DeGidio, Alex DeGidio, Merabella Mihalic, Sophie Scheel, and Stella Scheel, along with many more, and by his great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Ward.
The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Willoughby Memorial Gardens.
