Deschler, David Arthur, 76, originally from St Louis and a 35 year resident of Cleveland, OH passed away on April 6, 2026. Dave was born in St Louis, Missouri, to Arthur Deschler (deceased) and Frances (nee Schaefer) Deschler. He was the oldest brother of 4 – Kevin (Pat) Deschler, Daniel (Lisa) Deschler and Donna Deschler. David always called himself a cradle Catholic and was a lifelong man of faith, contributing to multiple Catholic volunteer organizations like the Holy Name Society, the Catholic Men’s Fellowship, and the Board at Metro Catholic School.
Dave grew up in St Louis going to Immaculate Heart of Mary grade school and St Mary’s High School. He started his college career at the University of Mo – Rolla then transferred to the University of Mo – Columbia where he completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1972. Later he completed an MBA at the Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville.
Dave met his wife, Patricia Deschler (nee Poertner), on a blind date. They were married in July 1977 and lived in St Louis for 9 years. They moved to Cleveland OH in 1991 and have lived there since. They had been married 49 years when David passed.
Dave worked for several companies over the years, including the Brandwine Equipment Co, Airtherm Manufacturing, Cerro Copper Products and finally, Mussun Sales in Cleveland until he retired in 2013. While working at Mussun Sales, he also participated in the Cleveland Ashrae Chapter and was a Board officer for a number of years. Since retirement he has been involved in a number of parish organizations including the local food bank, eucharistic minister and usher.
His hobbies were golf and traveling. One of his best stories were of visiting St Andrews, Scotland and Pebble Beach Resort with his brother Kevin. Dave and Pat also traveled a lot in Europe, Arizona, Hilton Head and even Egypt. Dave’s last overseas trip was to Australia and New Zealand. His favorite excursion was the sailing trip he took on an America’s Club yacht in Ackland, New Zealand.
Dave enjoyed his weekly golf rounds with his senior group of friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat, his brothers, Kevin and Dan and his sister Donna as well as sisters-in-law and lots of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The Deschler family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday, April 13th, 2026 at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord OH. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM Monday at the church. A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date.
Contributions may be made in Dave’s name to the St Gabriel Food Bank.
