Elmer “Ernie” Kerezsi, age 98 of Willoughby, peacefully passed away October 14th, 2024 at the Cleveland VA Medical Center. He was born October 12th, 1926 in Vintondale, PA to the late John and Julia Kerezsi.
Ernie was a retired machinist at Cleveland Crane. He was a U.S. WWII Marine Corp Veteran and was an Iwo Jima survivor. He was an ASA umpire in Lake County for over 20 years. He also donated 12 gallons of blood to the Red Cross.
Ernie was the loving husband to the late Dorothy Kerezsi and the late Shirley Kerezsi; beloved father of Barb (Rich-deceased) Conroy, Ernie (Kathy) Kerezsi, Sandy (Randy-deceased) McGough and the late Gerry Fitzgerald, Sue Kerezsi and Sharon Lloyd; step father of Bob (Marlene) Dudash, Jim (Sandy) Dudash and the late Kathy Dudash; grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather of many; brother of the late Joseph, Margaret, John and William Kerezsi, and the late Dorothy Campbell and Isabel Friday; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The Kerezsi family will receive family and friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
