Kenneth “Jake” Nicholson, age 67, a longtime resident of Kirtland, passed away September 25, 2018. He was born May 12, 1951 in Connellsville, PA, son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (nee Klink) Nicholson.
Jake is the loving brother of David of Atwater, Terry (Jean) of Leroy, Timothy (Kathy) of Eastlake, Ronald (Kim) of Lynchburg, VA, Kimberly Tyler of Madison, Deborah (Walt) Fillar of Mentor and the late Dorothy Jean Vargo and Allen Dale; uncle of Darla (Doug) Duane, Ervin Bittinger, Dominick Barricklow, Rebecca (Steve) Klima, Doug Auxier, Megan (Andrew) Hovance, Duke Tyler, Bryan, Timmy Jr., Juli, Ricky, Keirsten, Nicole, Nash Nicholson and the late Joseph Nicholson; great uncle of many.
He graduated from Kirtland High School in 1970 and also attended Auburn Career Vocational Center, formally Lake County Joint Vocational School. He was employed at Jerry Klee’s Sunoco, Cole’s Septic, Honey Dippers, Mason’s Union 76, Jake’s Place and he retired from the City of Kirtland in maintenance in 2016.
He spent his time after retirement helping care for his mother and enjoying his retirement at his places in Tionesta, PA and Florida. Jake was well known for his zest of life and entertaining others. He was also known for cooking his unique recipes to share. Maxine, his dog, was his co-pilot for several years. He loved going with the guys on Hunting trips and working on and driving race cars in his younger years.
A chapel service will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 28, 2018 at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland.
