Louis James McElroy Sr. aka “Ding”, age 66 of Orwell, formerly of Madison, passed away at home November 2nd, 2026. He was born April 6th, 1960 in Painesville, OH to the late Ellamae and Franklin McElroy Sr.
Ding enjoyed camping, fishing, watching WWF wrestling, and riding his motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a friend of Bill W.
Ding was the loving father of Lisa (Paul) Moore, James (Emily) McElroy Jr., and the late Tina (Kyle) Corrigan and Christina McElroy; dearest grandfather of Eric and Aaliyah McElroy, Kayla and Cameron Corrigan, Faith Poticher, Marshawn Williams, Tayvon Aikens, Jeremiah and Mercedes Townsend, Kylei and Halee McDivitt, Josh and Theresa Ambrose, and the late Kyle Corrigan Jr.; great grandpa of Jahkarri, Everly, Kenny, Addison, Moni, and Nai’lani; brother of Frank “Booboo”, Michael (Nora), Jerry, Mark, Barbara, John Ray, and the late Wanda Nichols, and Charles “Danny” McElroy; uncle to many nieces and nephews; former husband of Colleen McElroy.
The McElroy family will receive family and friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 10th, 2026 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
