SERVICE FOR

Louise Catherine Colosi (nee Colagrossi)

07/01/1924 — 02/18/2021

Louise Catherine Colosi (nee Colagrossi) of Mentor, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2021 at Governor’s Point at the age of 96. Born July 1st, 1924 in Elkhart, Indiana, she moved with her family to Cleveland and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1942. Louise was the eldest of 5 children to John and Mary Colagrossi.

Louise, or Lou as she was known, worked for Euclid Road Machinery where she met her husband, Anthony/Tony/Cabby Colosi. The two were wed in 1947. Louise and Cabby moved to Mentor where they raised 3 children. Lou was a stay-at-home mom for several years before reentering the work force as a secretary for Mentor Public Schools. She spent 15 enjoyable years there at various locations before retiring in the early 80’s, just in time, she would say, to avoid learning how to use a computer.

In 1972, an opportunity came up to relocate to Brisbane, Australia for a year due to her husband’s job. Louise made a wonderful home there for her family and experienced a 104 degree Christmas.

Louise will be remembered for her love and compassion. Louise was always the center of Sunday gatherings complete with pasta. She loved to do crosswords and would happily beat you in a game of Quiddler. She was known to spontaneously break out in song or advise you to put on a sweater because she was cold. She also loved to travel and took many trips during her retirement. She was a longtime member of both St. Bede and St. Mary’s churches in Mentor.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Anthony, her parents John and Mary Colagrossi, her sisters Josephine (Raymond) DiSanto, Helen (Edward) Tomba, and Marge (Edward) Dzurko.

She is survived by her brother Leonard (Lois) Colagrossi, daughter Barbara (Tony Bandera), daughter Karen (Doug) Crock, son Kenneth (Susan Blankschaen), grandchildren Rachael (Ronald) Bledsoe, Katie Bateman, Nicholas, Alexander, and Gina Colosi and great grandchildren Colin and Kendall Bledsoe.

At Louise’s request, funeral services will be private prior to burial at Mentor Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. A special thanks to all the compassionate and dedicated caregivers at Governor’s Point who have given her comfort and joy in her final years.

Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of the Western Reserve or to The FSH Society at FSHSociety.org to help cure facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy.

Arrangement have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Services.
