Martha “Marty” Kaska (nee Blatnik), age 86, of Wickliffe for over 56 years, is at peace. She passed away on February 3, 2024, at home in Wickliffe, surrounded by her family.
She was born November 12, 1937, in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Virginia Blatnik. Marty worked in the office at General Electric and General Motors. Her first (and favorite job) was at Sterling Linder’s accounting department, where she made $1.00/hour. Unfortunately, her mother made her quit because she spent her paychecks on new clothes and had a friend who worked in the shoe department. She was proud of her 57 pairs of shoes for “work.” She finished her professional career with Medic Drug as a cashier in home health care.
After her retirement, she enjoyed being a homemaker and traveling with her late husband, Bob. They honeymooned in Hawaii, traveled to Aruba, spent a summer traveling Route 66, and enjoyed many casinos along the way. She was a lifelong parishioner of Mt. Carmel. She looked forward to the church festival every summer, where she enjoyed the weekend but also volunteered as a dealer. Many of life’s lessons were passed down to her grandchildren, playing cards around the kitchen table. Marty’s hobbies also included investment clubs and spending time on the golf and tennis courts with “the girls.” But hands down, her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family, especially watching her grandson play sports, and she enjoyed listening to their stories to catch her up on their lives. Finally, after almost 9 months apart, Marty was reunited with the love of her life, Bob (May 17, 2023); beloved mother of Mike (Theresa); devoted grandmother of Cameron, Jackson, and Garrett; sister to John and the late Paul, Helen, Joe; loving aunt and friend to many.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, February 8th, 2024 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37932 Euclid Ave., Willoughby (Please meet at the church). Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
