Norman F. Van Horn, age 73 of Mentor, passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2023. He was born August 21st, 1949 in Cleveland to the late Norman and Viola Van Horn.
As a young man, Norm was a copy boy for The Plain Dealer and attended Kent State University. He enjoyed performing at Richmond Hts. Little Theater, where he met the love of his life. He worked for Ajax and was an avid bowler on their team. Norm retired after a long career as a CNC Operator for TRW and Argo Tech. At retirement, he followed his passion for cooking and graduated from culinary school. His hobbies included cooking, bowling, anything science fiction and playing cards.
Norm was the loving husband for 51 years to Deborah Van Horn (nee Semethy); beloved father of Jeanne (Kris) Cowart; dearest grandfather of Regan Carpenter; brother of Nancy Alden; brother-in-law, uncle, and cousin of many; dear friend of Tom Stalzer.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH 44077. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends a half hour before the funeral service. Burial at Waltz Cemetery in Medina, OH.
