Peter M. Ercegovac was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 10th, 1970 and passed on June 22nd, 2022. Son, uncle, and brother, who would do anything anyone who asked, needed, or wanted. Peter attended Saint Vitus elementary school and was a graduate of St. Joe’s High School. The things he did in his life will always be remembered by everyone he came across.
Pete was an uncle and stand-in father figure for many of his nieces and nephews. Martina, Jozo, and Luka Matic will always remember everything he had done for them, as well as others. Always taking his nephews out on ‘Guys’ nights, or just taking his niece to see places she wanted to see.
His mother, Durda Ercegovac and father, Pete Ercegovac are deeply affected by his sudden passing. His mother was always there for him even through his cranky episodes, as he was the same for her. Pete and his mother were inseparable, Durda would do anything for her son.
Pete always had a great sense of humor and never had a mean bone in his body. Although he sometimes had a weird way of showing he cared, deep down we all knew he was a sweetheart. Admired by many people that have such amazing things to say. A loving brother to his younger sister, Kristina Ercegovac-Matic, well, almost loving. These two would argue about the smallest things, but at the end of the day, they loved each other deeply.
What Pete was most known for was his time in the military as a translator for Croatian missions. Something he enjoyed bragging about, a lot. He would always tell his niece how much he missed this occupation, how he would do anything to go back to those days.
Peter is the loving son of Peter D. and Durda Ercegovac; beloved brother of Kristina (Jozo – deceased) Matic; cherished uncle of Martina, Jozo and Luka Matic, Hannah, Sheila and Lee Spencer; nephew and cousin of many.
The Ercegovac family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 29th, 2022 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Vitus Church, 6019 Lausche Ave., Cleveland (Please meet at the church). Burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
Pete left a lasting impression on everyone he interacted with.
