SERVICE FOR

Richard “Rick” Allen Poe Sr.

9/16/1949 - 5/04/2024

Richard “Rick” Allen Poe Sr., 74, of Middlefield, formerly of Eastlake, was called home for his eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Rick was born on September 16, 1949 in Painesville to Richard and Alice Poe. He was the oldest of 9 siblings.

Rick worked as an HVAC technician for 25 years before retiring in 2006. He was a lifelong diehard Cleveland sports fan and loved the Cleveland Indians/Guardians in particular. He instilled that love of Cleveland sports into his family which lasts to this day. More importantly, he was a diehard Cleveland father who instilled a lot of love into his kids and made many happy memories with them that will last a lifetime, including watching the Cavaliers win the championship on Father’s Day in 2016. Rick loved fishing, bowling, playing pool, shooting hoops, playing putt-putt, and going to ballgames with his children even into his later years. He will be dearly missed.

Rick is survived by his children Richard (Janell) Poe Jr. of LaGrange, Brian (Katie) Poe of Painesville, Jeremy Poe of Cleveland, Jordan (fiancé – Manoli Papagianis) Poe of Brooklyn Heights; granddaughter Sunny Marie Poe; step-grandchildren Hannah and Cooper Creveling; former wife Karen (Mike) Nista; sisters Patricia “Patty” (John) Gingerich of Middlefield, Sandy Serwatka of Eastlake, Mary Jane Behun of Owasso, Okla.; brothers Kevin (Jeanette) Poe of Madison, Randall Poe of Madison, and Charles “Chuck” Poe of Mentor, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Alice; former in-laws Harold “Sonny” and Geraldine “Gerry” Iles; brothers James and Robert Poe; niece Nicolette Woodin;  nephew Phil Poe; and his beloved pup dogs Elmer and Nibbles.
