Robert “Bob” Anthony Adams, age 75 of Bayard, West Virginia and Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away December 19th, 2023. He was born September 28th, 1948 in Cleveland, OH to the late Frank and Evelyn Adams.
Bob retired as a computer programmer with Reliance Electric and Rockwell Automation.
Bob was a proud Navy veteran. He was a sonar technician on the USS Richard L Page DEG-5 and retired from the Navy reserves after 27 years of service. He earned the Naval “Polar Bear” award after crossing The Arctic circle in 1970 while doing a mission for NATO.
In his younger years, Bob was a Sportman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing in Canada and West Virginia.
In retirement, he was an avid tomato gardener and genealogy enthusiast building the family tree. He enjoyed traveling back to Ohio for family reunions or “The Polish Picnic” and reuniting with his Navy comrades at the USS Richard L Page DEG-5 Ship reunions. Bob also enjoyed hanging with friends at the draft house to watch his favorite team the Cleveland Browns. Due to his love of gardening and especially tomato gardening, his friends lovingly nicknamed him “Tomato Bob”.
Bob is the loving husband of Carol Adams; dearest father of Cathy (Cary) Zalba and the late Jonathan Adams; beloved grandfather of Elizabeth and William Zalba; stepfather of Shawn Harvey; step grandfather of Christina Harvey; brother of Bill Adams; uncle to Tracie, Kris, and Scott.
The Adams family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:30 PM Saturday, February 24th, 2024 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at 11:15 AM Monday, February 26th, 2024 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH. Please arrive at the cemetery at 10:45 AM.
