Robert C. Sanderson, age 86 of Concord Twp., formerly of Mentor, passed away April 2nd, 2025 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts. He was born February 15th, 1939 in Johnstown, PA to the late Raymond and Lois Sanderson.
Bob was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1957 – 1961. He started his working career as a counter salesman and rose up to the ranks to become the president at Mentor Lumber & Supply Company, where he worked for over 61 years. He was proud to have worked alongside Jerome Osborne, Harry Fishleigh, Donald “Pete” Davidson and all the employees that made Mentor Lumber so successful.
Bob was a member of the GYRO of Western Reserve/Painesville and a past member of the Mentor Rotary Club. He enjoyed fishing, sailing and traveling to Islamorada, Florida. He was also an avid reader.
Bob was the loving husband of 47 years to Sandra Sanderson; dearest father of Michael (Kimberly) Sanderson, Tammy Jacomin, Laura Sanderson, Donna (Scott Harris) Eisenhart and the late Robert “Bobby” Sanderson Jr.; beloved grandfather of Ashley (Thomas) Shandle, Lindsay Jacomin, Allison Jacomin, Hannah (Scott) Jacomin, Brandon Oppenheim, Erin (Rick) Conner, Amy Oppenheim, Shelby Eisenhart, Sarah Eisenhart, and the late Jennifer Sanderson; great grandfather of Brandon, Landon, Allison, Jackson, Eloise and Amelia; father in law of the late George Eisenhart Jr.; brother of Patricia (William-deceased) Hoffman, Kathy (Joe) Molnar, Raymond (Sue) Sanderson, Carolyn (Brian) McCreery, and Suzanne (Yale) Costlow; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The Sanderson family will receive family and friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, April 4th, 2025 at St. Gabriel Church, 9935 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at the church. A Private Burial will be held at a later date.
