Nada Kustis, age 96 of Willowick, passed away December 12, 2024 at Euclid Hospital after a short illness. Her son, Scott Kustis was at her bedside for her final days.
Nada had a full life that centered around SNPJ (Slovene National Benefit Society) of which she was a member for nearly 80 years. She and her friends were regulars at the many dances, concerts, polka parties, clubs and activities over the years. She was charter member of Youth Circle 2 which was started by her aunt. She and her friends enjoyed bowling and in her younger years regional bowling league tournament events allowed opportunities to explore cities in the Midwest and beyond. This love for travel was demonstrated in later years with regular excursions to Disney World and Las Vegas among other locations. Even in later years she would enjoy participating in senior charter bus tour trips. Perhaps her most exotic trip was visiting Havana Cuba in the 1950’s with her friends shortly before that country was closed to visitors.
Nada was married to William Kustis for 60 years until his death in 2021. They had one son, Scott who currently lives in Columbus, Ohio but would return to Cleveland often to visit.
Nada enjoyed working with children and for 30 years she was a fixture at Royalview Elementary School in Willowick working with the latch key program as well as being a noon aide. She was often the first and last staff member in the school opening it for the early morning latch key children and then returning after school ended for the afternoon program.
Nada outlived almost all her peers and would often reminisce about times with her sister Alma, as well as best friends Marion, Vida and Lillian.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Painesville.
