Ted D. Gillespie, age 77 of Painesville, passed away July 3rd, 2020 at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. He was born January 26th, 1943 in Canton, Ohio to the late Melvin and Louella Gillespie.

Ted graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1961. He is a U.S Army Veteran, honorably serving during the Vietnam Conflict in the 1st Calvary Division. He is a proud fireman who retired in 1993 from the Cleveland Heights Fire Department after 25 years of service.

Ted is the loving husband of 27 years to Nancy Gillespie; beloved step father of James T. (Elizabeth) Stairs, Lynne Marie Booth, Regina Trout and the late Larissa Ann Stairs; dearest grandfather of Erik James (Melissa A.K.A. – Baby Girl) Pucci, Sestina Eve Stairs, Christopher Booth and the late Jennifer Booth; brother of Cheryl (Ramon) French, Charlotte (Dennis) Morris and the late Donald Robert Gillespie; uncle of seven.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral and Cremation Services.

    Ted and I have been good friends for over 50 years. We worked, camped and boated together. There are numerous stories to tell! I could always count on Ted for anything I needed. Ted will be dearly missed by myself and my family. R.I.P. “Hurricane”

    I was a classmate of Ted Gillespie in the 1961 graduating class of Jefferson Union High School. Although I did not know Ted well I enjoyed his laugh and sense of humor. I send my sympathies to his family…

    My brother Ted was uncle to Tim and Kevin (Vanessa) Morris as well as Jason (Kelly) French and Tiffany (Dan) French-Guzman. Great uncle Ashley Morris, Jackson Morris, Cameron Morris, Tim Jr Morris, Addison, Greyson and AJ French.

    words can’t express know sadden I was to hear about Ted’s passing. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with Ted when we would visit. He was one of a kind!! Funny, thoughtful, caring man. I will miss him much and my thoughts are always with you. Ted will remain in my heart forever.
