Private services will be held for Floyd R. Tennyson, 89, who passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021. Floyd was a 50-year resident of Eastlake before moving to Quinland, WV nearly 18 years ago. He was born September 15, 1931 in Cleveland, OH.
Floyd was a retired machine adjuster from Wolfe Envelope Co.; he worked there for 40 years.
Floyd was a loving father and husband. There wasn’t a job that he was afraid to tackle, learning, on the fly, such crafts as electrical, painting, carpentry, wallpaper hanging, plumbing, auto mechanics (i.e., chief mechanic of Tennyson Racing), and, of course, the hardest of all, trying to pass these self-taught talents on to his kids. His interior decorating and remodeling skills can be seen in a lot of his family’s and friends’ homes. He had quite a talented hand in drawing, too, mostly with pencils. You’ll see that talent in some of his children, grandchildren and even a great-grandchild or two.
Floyd loved trains, as well. He built an overhead track for his electric trains in a spare room in his house in Eastlake, and when he moved to West Virginia, he would try to be outside on the porch of his house to wave to the engineers when the coal trains passed by. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Shirley L. Tennyson (nee Price); children, Rick (Nancy) Tennyson, Diane (Noah) Iafigliola, Mick (Diana) Tennyson, Scott (Laura) Tennyson and Kim (Mark) Sumpter; stepdaughter, Gretchen Mullins; grandchildren, Stacy (Ryan) Alton, Joseph (Jennifer) Tennyson, Sandra Geraci, Eric (Gina) Iafigliola, Michael Tennyson, Shelby Tennyson, Scott Tennyson, Victoria Tennyson, Kristina Price, Eva Johnson, Adam Hager, Haley (Daniel) Dodd and Lauren Mullins; sister, Betty Kuhn, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Floyd is predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha M. Tennyson (nee Eberl); son, Joey Tennyson; parents, Joseph and Ida Tennyson (nee Boa), and siblings, Gladys Hall, Harold “Buddy” Tennyson, Mayme Demshar, Joe “Buster” Tennyson, Gloria “Babe” Trunk, and Jack Tennyson.
Burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Services.

My father-in-law, Floyd was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, Uncle, and brother.. He had a huge heart and was certainly a good family man. He has an infectious smile! His work ethic was second to none. He had a knack for remodeling and his masterpieces are in almost everyone of his children’s home. Floyd, THANK YOU for the ALL things you have done for our home and for loving us. Going to miss you! Say “Hi”” to everyone in heaven for us. Be at peace. “Better than anyone can say”!!!
Sandy and Diane, I am sorry for your loss and my prayers are with the whole family.
Floyd was very much a family man. He went out of way for his family when it came to fixing or needing something added or built. He had such a strong work ethic. His “Masterpieces” can be found in his children’s homes and decks. His smile and chuckles were infectious. Going to miss my father-in-law. Floyd- Thank you ALL your work in our home. Please say “Hi to everyone up in heaven for us”. Rest In Peace. You certainly earned it. Love Noah
