George Essey Hanna, age 85 of Euclid, passed away January 12th, 2022 at LakeWest Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born March 24th, 1936 in Donora, Pennsylvania to the late Anna and Michael Hanna.

George retired from Briardale Greens Golf Course in Euclid where he ran the pro shop. Everyone who went to Briardale knew George and his sense of humor and infectious smile. He made so many friends through his time at Briardale.

George was a U.S. Army Veteran, former member of the Euclid Eagles Club, an avid Steelers and Indians fan. He enjoyed golfing, softball, bowling and hanging with his friends at Skinny’s Bar and Grille where he liked to run the football and march madness pools. He will be missed by all who knew him.

George is the loving husband of the late Marlene F. Hanna (nee Jancisin); dearest father of George (Deborah) Hanna and Kim (Dave) Goodrich; cherished grandfather of Lee (Megan-fiancée) Hanna and T.J. Hanna; beloved brother of Mary Ellen (Frank-deceased) Smith, Joan Hanna, Virginia (David) Casciani, Patricia Hanna and William Hanna; brother in law of the late Dolores Chopyak; uncle of many.

The Hanna family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, January 16th, 2022 at The Abbey, 38011 Euclid Ave., Willoughby (located on the grounds of McMahon Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home). A celebration of life service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at The Abbey. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal of Jeff Monreal Funeral Home.

    George I’m a better man for having known you. There were so many times I would be having a bad day and low and behold there would be good ole Georgey there to make me smile and make my day a little easier to deal with. You will definitely be missed and now we don’t have to worry about getting that stupid filter material anymore. Rest In Peace my good friend and god speed buddy!

  4. awe George you will always have a special place in my heart I really enjoyed being one of your caregivers at Care Your Way I would of loved to come and pay my respects but being it was family only it would of been awkward well rest easy Buddy ..aka the cop

    RIP Essey.. you were always always there for lee and Tj and for that I will always be grateful.. you were the best grandfather a grandchild could have and as your ex daughter in law I’m extremely thankful for you!! You will truly be missed
