Henry “Hank” Andrew

07/11/1946 — 10/15/2021

A professional portrait of Henry "Hank" Andrew smiling and leaning in while wearing a white suit and patterned tie

Henry “Hank” Andrew, age 75 of Perry, passed away October 15, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1946 in Coos Bay, Oregon to Joan and the late Erwin Anthony Andrew. Hank was the best of the best and the toughest of the tough. His handshake left a lasting impression on all who were blessed by it. He was the most loving Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Hank leaves us sliding headfirst into heaven with a beer in one hand and a softball glove on the other. An eagle is tipping its wing to those he leaves on Earth.

Hank was an electrical engineer at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant and other nuclear power plants across the U.S. and then later in his career he worked for Square D Electric. He ended his career teaching future electrical engineers.

He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

Hank is the loving husband of 55 years to Karla Andrew (nee Goetz); beloved father of Donna (Rebecca Williams) Andrew and Deena (Paul) Nawrocki; dearest grandfather of Abbygail and Madeline Williams-Andrew, Lane Petrus, Nathan, Kaitlyn and Cooper Nawrocki; great grandfather of Nova Petrus; brother of Kathy Brandt, Joel David Andrew, Kevin Andrew, Brian Andrew, Bridget a.k.a. “Widget” (Mark) Blanchard and the late Erwin Anthony Andrew Jr. and Uncle Hank to many.

The Andrew family will receive family and friends from 5:00 – 6:30 PM Saturday, October 23, 2021 at The Abbey of Willoughby, 38011 Euclid Ave. (which is located on the grounds of McMahon Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home). A Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6:30 PM Saturday at The Abbey. Private burial in California at a later date.

In lieu of flowers we know Hank would be so happy if you donated to the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center Music Therapy Program. His therapist, Stephanie, brought him incredible comfort and joy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal of Jeff Monreal Funeral Home.

  6. I just found out about Hank’s passing yesterday. I was so stunned I had to process the news and details from obit above. It was a beautifully written obit. The picture posted of glowing smiling strong energy Hank is exactly as I could imagine and see him right now as if the photo was just taken moments ago. I , again , apologize I did not respond sooner. Karla, I loved you both ever since we each met and our lives became a nexus of serendipity. Hank was my love interest before Don and was a secret guest at our wedding and found out later the party after Don and I took off–with my old chums started a life long relationship between my beautiful bridesmaid Karla and Hank himself who must have almost instantly decided Karla sparked his new and perfect future partner. I am heart broken but we have all had full lives (watching via F Book as you guys moved so far away) and Karla and Hank seemed such devoted family parents and siblings all these 55 years in Xmas cards, few visits, and lots of visits to you on your facebook. I am still processing. So, wish I could be there for his service and be there to hug you Karla and meet the girls . I will send a contribution to the Cleveland Cancer Music Therapy Program as I feel that from yours and Hanks wishes that would be the best way to honor him. Will be in touch dear friend . Pray God support , surround and uplift you and yours with grace and peace to heal the wounds of loss.
