James “Jim” Chester Pastula

3/12/1946 - 3/06/2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Chester Pastula.  Born in Cleveland, Ohio 77 years ago to the late Chester and Jane Pastula /Romankowski, Jim left this world March 6, 2024, enroute to his final staff meeting.

People around him always recognized his entrepreneurial spirit and keen intellect. Jim was the President of a small business, Fasteners Incorporated in Michigan City, Indiana.  In addition, he worked as Vice President of Sales for Curtis Industries in Cleveland, Ohio. His leadership and vision not only ensured its success but also endeared him to his employees, who regarded him with loyalty, respect, and admiration.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his stepfather, Edward Romankowski, affectionately called “Novacheski” by Jim, and his sister, Darlene Salupo.  Jim is also survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judi Pastula (nee Offtermatt), and his daughter, Kelly Pastula-Wilber, his son, David, brother, Robert “Bob” Pastula, and sister, Peggy Huszai along with dozens of beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his “chosen” family members.

Jim was adored by his family and cherished by his friends. He had a remarkable sense of humor and quick wit. His infectious laughter could light up a room, and his ability to find humor in any situation endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Jim spent his free time enjoying fishing, boating, working outdoors, his fun word of “putzing” around in his lawn, and playing pool and cards.

He possessed a brilliant mind for the game of Bridge. His strategic capabilities and sharp intellect made him a formidable opponent, and he enjoyed countless hours engaging in friendly competition and banter with his closest family and friends. Some might say he was a “master” of the game.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Although he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Mentor, Ohio.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel Church before the celebration of life service. A private Interment will be at Mentor Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Jim’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
