Janet M. Smiddy, age 58 of Willowick, passed away December 9th, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born September 24th, 1964 in Cleveland to the late Charles Smiddy and Barbara Butterworth.
Janet received her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and her master’s degree in Social Work. She worked at The Cleveland Clinic Hospital as a CPC Reimbursement Specialist.
Janet enjoyed playing card games, board games, and Pokémon Go. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the world best mom and Grandma.
Janet is the loving mother of Bianca Smiddy and Brittany (Charles Hundley – fiancé) Smiddy; dearest grandmother of Harley and Connor; step daughter of Betty Smiddy and the late Joe Butterworth; cherished sister of Beverly (John) Croyle, Karl (Linda) Butterworth, Donna (Keith) Sigman, Sherri (Michael) Hargas, Joey (Dana) Butterworth and Betty Dean Hamilton; aunt of many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 14th, 2022 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Janet was a friend and fellow co worker with me at Cleveland Clinic until I retired last December. She was a good person and a hard worker. My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends she will be missed. May God comfort you all to move forward after your great loss. My prayers are with all ❤️

Every time someone refers to you the very first thing they say is how sweet of a person you are. From the time when we were small children you were always so sweet and kind. I remember you always that way and know heaven will be a sweeter place just because you are there.

My sweet cousin as I write this thru the tears I am confident you knew how much I loved you. Your journey thru life sometimes knocked you down but you always got right back up. You were not only inspirational you were a kind sweet girl. I will always cherish our memories. I will forever remember the aura of love surrounding you. Always know how much I loved the life you gave Bee and Britt for that I will be eternally grateful. You were one of the world’s greatest souls and you will be missed far far beyond words.
