Josephine “Jo”, Josie” Rotter (nee Ludvik), age 96 of Euclid, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 10th, 2023 at the David Simpson Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 29th, 1926, in Strabane, PA to the late John and Mary Ludvik.
Josie loved her Slovenian heritage, having learned to dance and sing at an early age. Along with her sister, Mary, she would accompany their father who played the accordion. In later years, she performed with the Zarja Singing Society at Recher Hall and was a long time member of Loyalites Lodge 158. She loved to polka, especially at the E. 185th Street Fest, Recher Hall, and SNPJ Farm. Jo loved to travel, including a trip to Slovenia (Yugoslavia) and frequent train trips throughout the US with her husband, Stanley, who worked for Conrail. She baked the best potica in the world and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan!
Jo was the loving wife of 49 years to the late Stanley Rotter; beloved mother of Charles (Barbara Tokar) Rotter, Terry (Karen Shero) Rotter, and Joann (Pat) Vincelli; dearest grandmother of Nicholas Rotter, Andrew (Megan) Rotter, Gregory (Kara) Rotter, Katie (Matt) Bush and Ashley Vincelli; sister of Mary (Jim-deceased) Krese, Edwin (Ilene-deceased) Ludvik and the late Jerry (Debbie) Ludvik; sister-in-law of Irene (Kenneth-deceased) Henkel; cousin and best friend of Millie (Don-deceased) Kovach; aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass Thursday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Robert & William Catholic Parish, 367 E. 260th St., Euclid, OH 44132. Interment following mass at All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends AT THE CHURCH FROM 10 A.M. UNTIL MASS TIME. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Josephine to Hospice of the Western Reserve, P. O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192.
