Laura A. Abate, age 54 of Mentor, Ohio passed away March 8, 2023 at Hospice of the Western Reserve surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 13, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Laura Graduated from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio with a bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She is also a graduate of the MLT Program with an Associate of Applied Science from Lakeland Community College. Laura worked for Lake Health System and University Hospital as a lab technician and most recently as medical technologist.

Laura is the loving daughter of Anthony “Tony” and Dorothy Abate (nee Jurcisek); dearest sister of Mark (Colleen) Abate; beloved aunt of Megan Abate; granddaughter of the late Tony and Jennie Abate, and Edward and Frances Jurcisek. Laura will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at The Abbey, 38011 Euclid Ave., Willoughby (which is located on the grounds of McMahon Coyne Vitanatonio Funeral Home). A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 20th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe (Please meet at the church). Private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura’s name to Hospice Of The Western Reserve  www.hospicewr.org

    So sorry for your loss. I worked with her at LHS hospital. She was a funny, hard-working, intelligent young lady. I could always depend on her to be able to handle any situation that arose. We had some good adventures outside work that were memorable. My deepest condolences to your family, and I will keep her in my memories and prayers.
