Leroy “Butch” Shirey Sr., age 84 of Perry, formerly of Natchitoches, Louisiana, passed away September 15th, 2026 at Burton Health Care. He was born April 11th, 1942 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Alice Shirey.
Butch was a retired truck driver. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Amvets Post 1971.
Butch was the loving husband of the late Blanche M. Shirey; beloved father of Leroy (Kimberly) Shirey Jr., Dennis (Linda-deceased) Rule, Bill (Nancy) Rule, and the late Robert Rule; grandfather of Dustin Shirey, Gabrielle Shirey, Elizabeth (Larry) Nevil, and Amanda Rule; great grandfather of Keegan, Harrison, Jackson, and Alaia; brother of Sharon (Syl-deceased) Ceci, and Barb (Don-deceased) McGinnis; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The Shirey family will receive family and friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial at a later date.
