Marlene Fliter (nee Gozelinchick), age 85 of Concord Twp., passed away November 24th, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born May 1st, 1937 in Cleveland to the late Frank and Wanda Gozelinchick.

Marlene retired from Avery Dennison as an executive secretary.

Marlene was a proud member of St. Casimir Church. She was an active member of St. Gabriel Parish where she was always involved. She loved traveling to Naples with her family, enjoyed casino bus trips and helping Julie with her flower business.

Marlene is the loving wife of the late John Fliter Sr.; beloved mother of John (Leah) Fliter Jr., Julie (Jim) Vitale, Joe (Kelli) Fliter and the late James Fliter; dearest grandmother of Eric and David Fliter, Arianna and Dom Vitale, and Carlie Fliter; sister of Tom (Jan) Gozelinchick, Linda (Tim-deceased) Gulich and the late Wanda Scoville and Patsy Tinker; aunt of many.

The family will receive friends from 3:00–7:00 PM Monday, November 28th, 2022 at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge, Concord. Burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.

  1. I remember Aunt Wanda as a force of nature who rode in on a white horse to do what needed to be done! Her kindness to the Tinker women was epic!

  3. God bless Marlene. When we decorate the church this year at St. Casimir, she will be surely missed but I think we will all sense her presence.

    Dear John, Julie and Joe,
    My sincere condolences to you on the death of your dear mom, How well I remember the Fliters and all the many ways that they helped at St. Gabriel’s. Marlene was a great playground mom and treat maker! She was so proud of each and all of you too! I can only imagine how much you will miss her. Nevertheless, she is still a very big part of your life. Watch for it.
