Raymond E. Cheers, age 88 of Mentor, passed away February 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 08, 1933 in Sugarcreek Twp., PA.
Ray was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was an electrical engineer for Euclid Inc., retiring in 1991 after 30 plus years. He volunteered with his late wife for Meals on Wheels, was a former Deacon at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church in Mentor.
Ray enjoyed hunting with his father, loved the outdoors, including boating, camping and he took great pride in the appearance of his landscape. He enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family.
Ray is the loving husband of the late Nancy Cheers (nee Hughes); dearest father of Debbie (Jerry) Gossett, Sheryl Cheers, Ellen (Greg) Vayo and Amy (Chris) Kurtz; beloved grandfather of Jason (Stacey) Gossett, Lindsay (Mark) Wohrman, Kristina (Vic) Marriott, Jacob (Sarah) Gossett, Lindsey (Jeff) Woleben, Bryan, Chris and Daniel Vayo, Dillon Shenkel and Nick Kurtz; great grandfather of Jordan, Landon, Emma, Carly, William, Antonio, Maddox, Lincoln, Maverick, Lulu and Lyla; brother of Ronnie (Opal) Cheers and the late Peggy (Wayne) McClelland; uncle of many.
The Cheers family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at McMahon Coyne Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center Street, Mentor. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Burial at Mentor Cemetery.
Donations can be made in Ray’s name to The American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland OH 44106 or to Hospice of Elara Caring, 5966 Heisley Rd. #100, Mentor OH 44060.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal of Jeff Monreal Funeral Home.

Ray and Nancy were such wonderful friends and neighbors.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will miss your fathers friendly smile. He was always so friendly and welcoming. Now he rests with Nancy forever in peace
