Richard “Rick” A. Smith, age 72 of Lakewood, Colorado passed away June 1st, 2024. He was born on August 15th, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Aubrey and Marie Smith.

Rick was a retired mail clerk at the Lakewood Post Office after 30 years of service.

Rick was a U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies and was a huge Denver Broncos football fan.

Rick was the loving brother of Diane (William – deceased) Cunningham (nee Smith); beloved uncle of Dawn (Jeff) Wood, Patrick Cunningham, Timothy (Tori) Cunningham and Megan (Joe) Sakacs; dearest great uncle of Savannah and Evan Wood, Delaney Cunningham, Alex and Johnny Cunningham, Aubrey and Carla Sakacs, and the late Riley Cunningham; dear friend of Anna Crandall; and cherished dog Mya.

The Smith family would like to invite family and friends on July 5th, 2024 at 10:30 AM to Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 West Kenyon Ave., Denver, Colorado for a short service followed by military honors. Please arrive at 10:00 AM at the cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

  4. Over 50 years of friendship from our 20’s to our 70’s. Lots of fun, good conversations and friendly banter. A hell of alot of golf, some of the most fun I had was on the golf course with our friends. You are missed.

    Very proud to have Rick “big man” Smith as my friend and companion from Westwood P O. Always a pleasure to talk with him always about football. Always a Cleveland fan be it the Browns or Bernie Cousar. Glad he had a dog with whenever he walked around. Very honored to have worked and conversed with him always!!!
