Rosetta Cottrell (nee Danilevich)

10/18/1932 - 9/06/2023

It is with great sadness, yet through peace and acceptance, the family of Rosetta Cottrell of Painesville announce her passage into the arms of her Savior after 90 years of a fulfilled and tenacious life.  At her home, she peacefully made her journey to her Lord with family by her side on September 6th, 2023.

Rosetta’s life began on October 18th, 1932, to Mary and Peter Danilevich in Belle Vernon, PA. In 1957, she met her beloved husband Jack, and by their second date, were engaged to be married. Through great love and devotion, they celebrated 62 years of marriage until Jack made his journey in 2019.

Rosetta worked as Assistant Superintendent for 20 years, alongside her husband, the Superintendent of the Lake County Home in Painesville.  Upon retirement, she spent her time caring for Jack, adoring her great-grandchildren, gardening, and sewing.  Rosetta had a strong devotion to her Catholic faith. She was an active church member and created vestment clothing for statues and preparing alters. She was exceptionally passionate about providing for those less fortunate and gave unconditionally to those in need.

Rosetta, with her silver hair and petite stature is known for always having a supply of root beer barrel candies. Upon greeting anyone she encountered, she graciously handed a piece, followed by the saying “Think of summer, think of a root beer float, and have a happy, quiet, and peaceful memory”.

Rosetta shares her presence in heaven with parents Mary and Peter and husband Jack.  Continuing her legacy of love and loyalty, Rosetta leaves her spirit behind with daughter Bernadette Cottrell (Duane “Phil” Yarletts), grandchildren Christine (Gavin) Maki, Rosemary Fritsch (Mike Heidenreich), and great-grandchildren Rayna and Dylan.

Please join in the celebration of life, as family receives friends on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville.  Mass of Chistian burial will take place on Wednesday, September 13th at 11:30 AM at St. Gabriel’s Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord.  Proceeding mass, her rest will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.

In Rosetta’s words, with a sign of the cross… May the Holy Angels Watch Over You.
