William M. Champa

William M. Champa, age 68 of Eastlake, passed away August 7, 2023 at UH Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland surrounded by his family.  He was born November 5, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrew Champa and Ruth Champa-Kozak.

Bill worked at FirstEnergy Corp for 27 years as a mechanic and then a high voltage electrician.

Bill was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished Paw-paw who loved helping others.  He was passionate about old cars and enjoyed fixing everything.  He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.  

Bill was the loving husband for 45 “glorious” years of Deborah Champa (nee Carr); beloved father of William E. (Melanie) Champa, Kristen Ashworth, and Danielle (Kirk) Barbic; cherished grandfather of Matthew and Samuel Champa, Cameron Ashworth, Caleb Champa-Spakes, Hayley and Savannah Barbic.  Brother of Andrew (Diane) Champa; brother-in-law of Roger Carr, Michael Carr; Uncle to several nieces and nephews.  Preceeded in death by his sister Erika Champa and brother-in-law Danny Carr.  

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am-1:00 pm Saturday, August 12th at Jeff Monreal Funeral Home, 1000 Mentor Ave., Painesville.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial to follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.

    My thoughts and prayers for the family. I didn’t know Mr. Champa personally but I know the unconditional love his son had for him, and he will truly be missed.

  3. Debbie and family, you have my deepest sympathy in the loss of your husband, father, Grandfather. My heart is sad that my cousin is no longer here with you all. I pray that God wraps his arms around each one of you and brings you comfort as you grieve the loss of a loving wonderful man. 🙏💕
